Tonight, Greenfield hosted a continuing education course entitled “Interventional Neurology for the Non-Neurologist”. The course was sponsored by UPMC Hamot and was led by Dr. Charles Romero. Covered in the course were pre-hospital indicators of strokes, as well as what goes on in the hospital setting.
Public education was also mentioned during this course. One point addressed was that a lot of people are unaware of what to look for in a stroke, and that there are some patients who don’t even know they are having a stroke – even go as far as driving themselves to the hospital.
For more information on strokes, you can get information from the National Stroke Association at:
Or at the American Stroke Association website at:
One easy way to remember how to spot a stroke is the acronym F.A.S.T which can be found on the image in this post. Remember, “Time=Brain”
