Greenfield Volunteer Fire Company is always looking for new members to join our ranks. We provide gear, training and everything else you will need to have a successful experience of helping us accomplish our mission of saving lives and property in Greenfield Township and surrounding communities.
Types of Membership
There are different types of membership available depending on what you want to do. The current types of membership are:
Our EMS Division handles all emergency medical calls in our township, as well as our neighboring departments that we provide mutual aid to when requested. We currently run two levels of medical training. Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). For more information on EMS in Pennsylvania – visit http://www.pa-ems.org/.
Members who join as firefighters will take, at a minimum, “Essentials” of firefighting. Firefighters can also choose to go for Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications; as well as other firefighting classes (such as vehicle fires) and rescue classes (vehicle rescue, rope/high angle rescue) . Firefighters can also cross-train as EMR or EMT if they so choose.
Fire police are responsible for traffic control and scene safety at various types of incidents such as vehicle accidents and structure fires. Members take training in basic and advanced fire police, and can take other classes dealing with the legal aspects of fire police and highway safety.
Associate members are not active on the fire ground, but are equally important in the functions of the department. Associate members assist at our various functions over the year; such as turkey shoots, turkey bingo and our annual gun party. There is no training required to be an associate member, just a willingness to help serve your community.
This is a very brief summary of what you can do to help to protect and serve your community. If you have a willingness to help, are eager to learn and have as little as a couple of hours a week, then consider joining our department! For more information, you can stop by on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM for drills. Monthly business meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM. You can also e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at (814) 725-9109.
